Otto
PERSONALITY
Otto is known by very few because he doesn’t like to make himself available to others. He is very exotic and mysterious, and hardly anything is known about him. Not many can befriend him because he’s skittish and often scampers away to hide when someone approaches his underwater cave. His habitat is known by very few, and only the most adventurous of people ever travel there. Even fewer people have ever actually spotted this creature because he shuts out the rest of the world. He’s very wary of people and feels as though everyone is constantly going to try to hurt him because to his knowledge, no other creatures of his kind exist. He’s timid and shy and he hates being touched. He also spooks at loud noises and he tends to cower when he’s frightened by them. The only things that Otto really interacts with are the fish in his pond, and that’s only because they prove to be a tasty snack. He’s lithe and slim and a very fast swimmer, but that doesn’t keep him from being pudgy and hungry all the time. He’s gullible and not hard to trick because he’s simple minded and so easily confused, so sometimes fishing can prove to be a difficult and very frustrating task for him. He hates being teased and he is never very amused by practical jokes and pranks, so he’s especially frustrated when a fish taunts him into attacking. Otto only communicates with the rare ‘hmm’ or grunt and lots of body language because he is mute. He can be very playful and even immature, and he’s always doing very cute, silly things like rolling up into a ball or tilting his head sideways. When he’s forced to confront another creature, he becomes very awkward in social situations. He usually darts away quickly or stares until the other creature leaves because he’s quite territorial but not good at fending off potential competition or standing up for himself. He does struggle with low self esteem, though this may be because he spends his days and nights alone, and the fish definitely don’t help him out. He’s not very adaptable and doesn’t like change, so he lives a very simple life by himself. He has a very high appreciation for all things beautiful, and he especially loves to sleep above the waters on nights that the sky is full of stars. To him, stars are like majestic creatures, and he hopes that one day he can join the stars in the sky after his passing. Otto could really learn a lot of things about socializing, predator vs. prey, and other vital skills, but the truth is that he’s very content living his simple life and he wouldn’t like to have it any other way.
